An XMM-Newton Early-type Galaxy Atlas

چکیده

The distribution of hot interstellar medium in early-type galaxies bears the imprint various astrophysical processes it underwent during its evolution. X-ray observations these have identified structural features related to AGN and stellar feedback environmental effects such as merging sloshing. In our XMM-Newton Galaxy Atlas (NGA) project, we analyze archival 38 ETGs, utilizing high sensitivity large field view construct spatially resolved 2D spectral maps gas halos. To illustrate NGA data products conjunction with Chandra (Kim et al. 2019), describe two distinct - NGC 4636 1550, detail. We discuss their evolutionary history a particular focus on asymmetric metal-enriched, low-entropy caused by sloshing AGN- driven uplift. will release dedicated website, which users can download perform further analyses.

An XMM - Newton observation of the galaxy group MKW 4

We present an X–ray study of the galaxy group or poor cluster MKW 4. Working with XMMNewton data we examine the distribution and properties of the hot gas which makes up the group halo. The inner halo shows some signs of structure, with circular or elliptical β models providing a poor fit to the surface brightness profile. This may be evidence of large scale motion in the inner halo, but we do ...

The XMM - Newton survey in the H - ATLAS field ,

Wide-area X-ray and far-infrared surveys are a fundamental tool to investigate the link between AGN growth and star formation, especially in the low-redshift universe (z 1). The Herschel Terahertz Large Area survey (H-ATLAS) has covered 550 deg2 in five far-infrared and sub-mm bands, 16 deg2 of which have been presented in the Science Demonstration Phase (SDP) catalogue. Here we introduce the X...

Exploring the Early Universe with Xmm - Newton

The question of the X-ray background has been largely settled over the last 10 years using the ROSAT satellite. About 70-80 % of the soft X-ray background was resolved into discrete sources, which are mainly X-ray and optically unobscured AGNs (Quasars, Sy1). Furthermore we found already several obscured AGNs in deep ROSAT surveys, which are predicted by the population synthesis models for the ...

XMM - Newton EPIC Observation of the Galaxy Cluster A 3667 ⋆

The Abell cluster of galaxies A3667 was observed with XMM-Newton in 6 partially overlapping pointings. We present here the resulting X-ray surface brightness, temperature, entropy and pressure maps and discuss the structure of this cluster on scales from 0.1 to 30 arcminutes. Based on these observations we refine the origin of the A3667 cold front to the displacement of the low entropy, high me...

Xmm–newton Observation of the Seyfert 2 Galaxy Ngc4138

The XMM–Newton data presented here are the first X–ray observation of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC4138. Although the galaxy has been pointed by ROSAT– HRI, it was not detected, with a flux upper limit of about 1.1×10−13 erg cm−2 s−1 in the 0.2−2.4 keV energy band1. XMM–Newton performed the observation on 26 November 2001. The source is detected for the first time in X–rays with F0.2−2.4 = 1.0 × 10−...
